Really enjoyed this episode - but now seems there is another Elegoo controversy in that the multi-color promised for the Centuri Carbon hasn't been released, and Elegoo released a Centuri Carbon 2 with multicolor support. The CC owners may be out of luck.

Bryan - FYI - I posted about that controversy MONTHS Ago here in the forum - because - Yup - I have a ECC1 model - and I was Pissed at the news that an AMS unit is never getting delivered for the CC1 printers - only for the new CC2 models! Ugh...

You know what Kurt I remember that!

Besides that how is your CC1 doing? I got an email from Elegoo offering me one for $250 because I went and looked at it on their website. lol... A little tip to anyone considering one - you may save some money!

My CC1 is doing just Fine - it's pretty much Crankin' out parts. But, there's a Downside to that - which I MUST bring up in another thread...

And, yeah - like MANY of the folks out there who hoped to get an AMS type unit for their CC1 - I too am kinda Furious that Elegoo has essentially cancelled the AMS-type unit for the CC1 -- since YEAH - that was EXACTLY Why I bought this printer - with those hopes that an AMS type unit would become available! Heck - they already have the cutting device in my printer - so, I see now reason that shouldn't have an AMS for my printer - since they DID indeed implement things in my CC1 that were prep's for it accepting an AMS type unit!

Honestly - I'd be surprised if there weren't already folks out there who have been working on implementing an AMS type unit for their CC1 printer!!!

There have been a couple of folks that have implemented MMu on the CC1 in the CC FB group. One guy has a diy version of the 3d chameleon working and another has teased print pics of a generic unit that got off AliExpress.
But it's been a minute since I've really taken the time to dig through all the noob posts about simple questions that have been asked 10k times and they either refuse to read the instructions or use the group search or the mass of angry posts saying how pissed they are about the MMu1 debacle or the slew of angry "my spool tangled" and you tell them it's because they're feeding off the top of the spool and it's allowing free spooling and you refer hem to the instructions book pictures of support videos saying you're a supposed to feed from the bottom but they argue " it doesn't matter which way you feed from".... Ok, yeah I may be salty over the CC FB group...lol

Also,...elegoo keeps insisting that the mmu for the CC1 is not dead. I can see them waiting a month or so to release it after the CC 2.

The OpenCentauri project is working on a replacement mainboard that will turn the device into a pure Klipper machine.  It will be interesting to see what comes out of that.

Personally, I'm annoyed about the AMS/CMS situation but I also knew I was taking this risk when I bought the device.  The $300 was a short term investment to buy time until I find the right printer that matches all my criteria.  I don't have the space to start collecting printers.

The project:

Years ago, when most 3d printers were kickstarted,it became pretty obvious that when they pitch promises they typically never fulfill them.

The X1C is the only kickstarter I've ever done for a 3D printer, and I didn't expect it to work out as well as it did.

I thought the Phrozen Arco looked promising and considered it but I'm glad I passed as it kept hitting delays. The final machine is pretty nice though, as it features a heat pipe design for cooling and puts the extruder gears below the cooling fins. If this proves reliable I think we'll see it in other machines.

The MakerTech printers I've pointed out typically come through. They're about ready to ship the ProForge 5, and have shipped the 300 and the 4. The 300 is for sale, the 4 was discontinued when the 5 kickstarter launched.
