This is a bump for Kurt.
To get it to work you need to place the supports against surfaces with minimal mechanical means for bonding. In other words as flat a surface as possible. If one material is printed around the other the only way you can harvest the object is to use a nippy cutter or clipper to cut that part of the support off.
However, I’ve had a number of prints now that had the supports go around the object and a little bit of a trim and I got the support off ok. That tooth tea cup I posted before Halloween is an example.
But…
Before you get there you should first do a very simple test print like the pics in the S3d thread… a small object with a flat underside. If the two extruders are not the same distance to the bed you’ll see problems with the simple test. Otoh, if the support comes off easy and it’s the right height you’ll see it. Too close and the extruders try to extrude on the same area and it looks pretty bad. Too far and the undersides look bad.

Also… I have no idea what PCTG is. PC  usually stands for polycarbonate. As such that is not PETG.

At Essentium, instead of printing in PETG - we are using PCTG - which is similar chemically. But, different enough that there is indeed a bit of a Stick between PCTG and the PLA support. And, yet - easy to separate the parts. My print test, using two 0.4mm nozzles, is 2 rectangles, as an "L" shape, they print together as one. And, I have the parts lifted up in the air - so that supports print under it. I've gotten GREAT Results. SUPER Smooth interface layer. The S3D Factory file is attached (yeah V4 version). In the following pic - you can see top dense layer of supports in Green, with the bottom of model layer in Blue on the right side:

I actually setup a print job, of several parts of a design of mine - like 3-5 parts. I'm going in today to check on that print job. I hope it turned out well!

If it DID - I may even post a pic of the completed parts - before actually pulling them off the print bed.

Well... the hull came out kinda shabby. It needed more outlines and a different infill pattern, but the undersides?

I gotta say - am surprised that the top of the of Smoke Stack turned out so bad - as I thought that was Flat on the bed!

I really need to post some pics of the print test of the small L-Shape, as I think the surface on the PLA AND on the PCTG - it looked rather AMAZING!
