Hey there folks,

I need some help - as I have been Banging my brain on this problem - and it's Obvious I am Missing something!

The "Danger" word in the design is in regards to Carrie Danger - and her "Danger Zone" segment on the radio. So - yeah - Nothing actually Dangerous here...

I am trying to do this Koozi design - but, Two Tone - 2 filaments - 1 is main Koozi - the other is the Words/Logo image. The file I am attaching is simply a Slice of the Koozi - just a Test for a quick print - and printing the word.

So - I got things setup in the Slicer - and it looks PERFECT:
image.png

However - I go to Slice it - and the Preview is just WRONG:
image.png

I am Honestly Stumped as to the problem. Yes - Main TPU is Black, then "Danger" is in Yellow.

I am attaching the 3MF file - which is really sliced for the SnapMaker U1 printer - and thus a ToolChanger. So - not sure if it's viable to open it up for another machine - like a Bambu with an AMS.

Now - I am also including the original STL File.

So - for those folks that try the STL - you will need to hit the Parts option in your slicer - to separate my Design into Parts. And, in my slicer - if I do the Object option - that separates the parts - but, drops them all to the bed - which is no good. So - yeah - separating into Parts keeps the Parts in place.

Now - the main BIG part - it should be Sliced w/Two Walls - No Top, No Bottom, No Infill. All the other parts of the design - the Letters - you don't have to do that. And, if you simply switch the Main part to a 2nd material - then only the Main part needs those special settings.

And - it's with Those settings that you see what you see above. The letters look FINE before I slice it - but are ALL Wrong after slicing - which does not seem to make sense.

I am hoping that someone might know what I am missing - and why the slice is a Mess!

Thanks folks!
-Kurt

Here goes again...

So - I got things setup in the Slicer - and it looks PERFECT:

You seperate into “PARTS” not “OBJECTS”.  Objects drops to bed

Well there - Mr. Doppleganger - seems you have a reading problem! Since - this is Already what I wrote:
... you will need to hit the Parts option in your slicer - to separate my Design into Parts... the Object option... drops them all to the bed - which is no good...

That being said - thanks SO MUCH for looking into the problem and trying to slice it!

I will respond further to your DM's right now...

Not sure how you made this, but the areas where the letters drop are are simply too thin.

You could take the sprocket part and just project text onto it in BambuStudio, you can probably do that in Orca too, but I don't have the latest version on my work machine to see.

Another way to do it is just make the letters thick, not contoured to the sprocket. Insert them into the sprocket so they project outward, then make them modifiers for color only.

Here’s what I mean by that: added a modifier and just made it green. You will have to make the letters flat, not contoured then just load them in as a modifier.

Wow Bryan - that's a Brilliant suggestion!!!

Now - you're saying to use Bambu Studio - but, doesn't the SnapMaker Slicer have the same functionality as well???

I may try this out today at lunch time!

It might, I haven't used it so I don't know.

In bambu you can simply project text onto an object now. But before that ability I would have done it as a modifier.

Tip: save the entire word as one STL, not individual letters.

I tried in Prusaslicer to make them modifiers.  The problem seems to be that the letters may not be manifold or something.  I got strange unexpected  results when i tried this.

Yeah the letters as they are will not work. They must be able to function as the cylinder in the photos in my example. They should just be block letters that go straight back into the object.

An easy way is just make an SVG and load as a modifier:

Bryan - FYI - all my real 3D Work is essentially done in 3DS Max. This design to integrate the lettering - was multiple steps. Including painfully recreating the exact style of lettering that is used on the radio station's website:
alt_DangerZone.jpg

Then it was a combo of object copies - Boolean operations & such.

That's essentially how I created the STL file.

A Quick Follow Up...

Another forum member has done a bit of a deep dive into this Koozi project - and trying to get my koozi to print. She just reached out to me this morning and sent me updated files. But, it will have to wait until tonight - as I'm heading out for a Picnic in the Park festivity here in Cleveland.

I just did a DEEP Dive myself last night into this project - via AI - as I just got a Personal subscription to Claude AI! More about that in a Bit...

Admittedly - I did NOT actually watch the video - but, I did Click - and saw the initial 10 seconds of it...

So - tonight - I took another shot - tweaking some of the modeling parameters - and BOOM - I think I GOT IT!!!

The Slice looks NICE! But, only printing it will tell. It's a short print - less than 30 min - so we shall see...
