Your comment is Funny - but, Yes - Spot on. The idea that 3D Printing deals PURELY with Polygonal Only type data files - at least when it comes to files it can read and Slice!
Now - there are lots of folks that claim that you need a TRUE CAD 3D app to produce properly Accurate parts. Like - things that need to fit - and have accurate sizing - to like connect to other things - stuff like that. But, I have done a TON of Accurate type things - using 3DS Max - which is NOT A CAD package. And - thus - this topic of accuracy is one of the reasons folks push True CAD. And, the whole industry of Design - like Mechanical Design - and even things like FEA - that's why True 3D CAD is important. Remember - the original basis of 3D PRinting is about Prototyping. So - printing an initial design - but, then the final parts get produced (generally) - via standard manufacturing methods like Injection Molding - or even Rotational molding!
In the end - yes - 3D Printing itself is about Polygonal Data!!!!
But - as a VERY FUN Aside - you KNOW there is a Special GCode command that can do Circles or Arcs???
Yes - it's TRUE! And - that Contradicts that standard format of files for 3D Printing that require Polygons - such that everything - like EVERYTHING is basically Lines or Line Segments that are printed!!!
In fact - during my time at Essentium - there were several of us - me as one of them - that were looking into whether this Arc type GCode like could RUN on the HSE printers!
I really should find out if the Elegoo Centauri or the SnapMaker1 could run these Arc commands! If so - I think there is the potential to speed up print jobs if that GCode command was correctly implemented!
