Hello, I have a Sovol SV04 that I want to try using PETG as support for PLA.  I am using Cura as my slicer and am struggling to find a way to set a different Z offset for the PLA and the PETG.  I would like to have a slightly higher offset for the PETG if possible.  I found a Cura Z offset plugin but that is global to both extruders.  Just wondering what others are doing for the initial layer Z offset when using different materials.  I know one option is to manaully adjust the offset on the second extruder but I would prefer not to do this if it is possible to do it in the slicer. Thank you for any suggestions.

are you running stock or klipper firmware?  Klipper lets you set custom offsets for each tool in the tool change macro

I was never able to figure out how to do full contact support in Cura. I gave up and just stayed with Prusaslicer.

I am running the stock firmware, would like to eventually try Kipper though.

I may have to try and come up with a profile to try in Prusa Slicer if I can not get it to work in Cura.

Thanks,

Bob

I have given up on Cura, after days of trying I was unable to get it to work reliably.  I switched to Prusa slicer and was able to get it to work within a day.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Just curious- are you running "snug" or "grid" for your support type on that print?

I'm running my first large print now (PLA with PETG support) using Snug.Seems to be going ok, but I wont know for sure till I remove supports

I assume the black in these photos is the PETG and white is PLA?

So the support prints as PLA unit just a few layers before the object, then switches to PETG, then prints the object...?

Interesting. I'll have to look at soluble support more. I would have assumed it would just print the whole support in PETG, but that would result in many more tool changes ....

Scott this print was done using the "snug" option for support type.  They came off extremely easy.

Aaron you are correct, the support is printed mainly in PLA with only a few layers of PETG where it makes contact with the actual model.  The reason I chose this option is the hope that it should result in less tool changes.
