I've been meaning to post this - and I DID post a bunch of other pics.

But - these are some REALLY WILD ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I spoke to the folks - they claimed that what they are doing is in Collab with StrataSys - so, it's 3D Prints by SSys...

This cat was Scanned - and this was the print:

Thanks Jody! Yeah - those pieces BLEW MY MIND looking at them in person. Insanely fantastic quality of the prints within the cubes - and there were MANY MORE on Display!

I just wish they were NOT so Pricey to purchase - otherwise - I would LOVE to have bought one of the units!

How were they made?

I'm not completely sure. The folks at the booth claimed that their co. did some special development, and partnered with StrataSys to make it happen. I suspect the website link I gave actually has more info about the process - assuming they reveal it.

I thought the cat looked pretty creepy. But I guess it wasn't actual size?

The website shows a duckling. If it looks like a lifelike duckling encased in plastic--that also looks creepy.

I don't disagree with you Darrell.

But, yeah - the cat in that block - the whole length of the block is like 2 inches. All these suckers are VERY Small.

Sadly - at that small - it's Pricey - imagine if it was Full Sized for a cat - that would be like $10K to purchase it that sized!

Oh my gosh, did you ever bring back an old memory! Many years ago, my sister's hamster died, while I was going through my castolight phase. Castolight was a 2 part clear casting plastic. So I embedded her dead hamster in see through plastic. Unfortunately she did not know it was dead yet.... And it looked like it was trying to swim out. She thought for years that I killed her hamster. Mom promptly threw it away.

But the prints are killer!

Does Stratasys have an inkjet resin? They look like something a Mimaki (or that new HeyGears) would put out. There is clear resin they can print.

It does indeed look like those other Techs you mentioned.

The folks at the booth didn't really say much about the Tech - they mentioned they developed something - and are working with StrataSys to make the prints. Beyond that - I am clueless...

Wait is the little trailer where you can get your likeness made? They developed the camera rig and stitching software to make the photogrammetry models. You stand (or pose) in the middle and get scanned into a 3D model.

That's Different. I think they Started in San Francisco - I Almost worked for them - back in like 2019. Did several interviews - but, didn't get selected. And - those - they 3D Print small characters but NOT inside a clear cube. Their stuff is more standard 3DP looking print - but, NOT FDM - I think it was SLS or Multijet printing they used - something like that...

Yeah they use Mimakis to print the statues.

This place you just saw is probably using the Stratasys J850
