So - I started up my Centauri this afternoon - it said there was a Firmware update - I said - Go For IT!

Well, after the update - I noticed a strange issue. I had unloaded 1 filament, the Loaded a different. I had also set the bed temp - to prep to print. But, after walking away - then coming back to the print - the Stupid Nozzle temp was still at Temp for the filament - and previously - after Load or Unload - the filament Temp automatically drops down to room Temp!

Am I the ONLY one to notice this problem???

Is there other Known Gotchas in this new Firmware?

Either way - I'm back to crankin' out parts on this printer - and starting up a new 3.5 Hour print!!!

I have stayed away from updating any of my machines. I don't think its stable yet and then their is canvas...
Has anyone out there tried open centauri? Is it any better? Can it handle canvas?
I don't want to screw up working machines especially when they are all running parts.

Yeah dude - I hear ya!
I have NOT even installed my Canvas.
I had my Centauri for a WHILE - and then I got the U1 - and I attempted to connect my U1 to my WiFi - and it was a No Go. But, I attempted to do that with the Centauri - and it DID work! And, after connecting it - that's when it has prompted me Several times to update the firmware - at least I think I did it once prior to today. And, when it asked - I figured I would just do it. I seriously hope that I am NOT going to Regret doing so...

Ugh...

It was after my son upgraded his firmware that it tore up his pei build plate.
That was a version or 2 back. But not sure its any better.
Its supposed to be easy to go back to stock firmware, even an option somewhere in the settings I think, But I have never used it.

Here's the official link to Elegoo sent me for the 1.1.25 firmware.  I had to downgrade because newer versions were causing part cooling fan issues for me: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NiFgBeoJnpYcWA2SC7ABJOogYG4oonYl/view

That seems to be one of the better versions.  If you installed Canvas you'll have to use a newer firmware than this unfortunately.

Thanks for the heads-up Bryan. I'm gonna have to dig into this shortly. Right now - I'm diving into the AI and Output for my Tree design. Which I will post more about soon. It was printing on the Centauri. Sadly - it had a print Fail - but, I do know Why - I am digging into it with Claude right now - doing some crazy stuff. Will Surely post some about this in the new thread - as some folks might find this interesting...

Thanks to Joe the 3D Printing Prof - as it's HIS Solution I am implementing!!!

I've updated to the latest firmware, 1.4.49, and so far no issues.
When updating firmware on the ECC it's HIGHLY recommend to do a reboot immediately after installing and then before doing any prints running through yhe "One-click self-check" on the calibration screen. It will overwrite any calibration info that might be a conflict with the new firmware version.
Even then I've gotten into the habit of doing a bed level on the first print after boot up just to be safe.

As to whether Open Centauri supports Canvas now. The last 2 releases of Cosmos does. If you're installing for the first time you have to use mainsail or the like to go into the config file and delete the bed leveling info before running the initial calibration routine. It's imported from the previous firmware and will cause issues with the new firmware.
I haven't tried it yet myself, just giving feedback I've read in the FB groups and Discord.

I got "lucky" and got the first wave of canvases. It installed easily and ran great, until it didn't. Slot 3 stopped pulling, I contacted elegoo they blamed my printer stating its a possible clog. I get it blame the easy first. I then send them a video of me inserting filament into slot 3, it pulling >5mm and jamming. I left the Boden tube off so they could see how far it went in. They sent me 2 motors.
3 weeks later I swapped motors and the problem persists. Now they are sending me a new hot end and 2 more motors. I personally think it's in the connection on the canvas board and have told them as such. If 3 motors all do the same thing chances are it's not the motor.
Honestly I may just buy a second canvas unit because a guy down the street has 11 CC1s for sale $100 each.

DANG Dude - I'm SUPER Sorry to hear of your Canvas issues.
You should get TWO More CC1's at that $100 price point. But, why is he selling so many? A Printer Farm Failure Biz???

I FREAKIN' Knew it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have NO Idea HOW Many people I spoke to over the past few years - when they speak to me about 3D Printing - they are like - HECK - you can MAKE A LOT of Money - just make a Print Farm!!!

Sorry - it's just a BAD IDEA! I told people - you make MORE Money for doing 3D Design work and NOT for 3D Printing! It's why Shapeways DIED (although - it's been Revived) - and it's also why SD3D - where I worked in SD - NO Longer Exists!!! Truth is - trying to succeed as a 3DP Service Bureau is INSANELY Tough! I Even tried years ago to do something like this. Even that co. in San Francisco area - that is largely a Service Bureau -- was Failing and they almost went Belly Up!

It's SAD - since, I would LOVE to be like a Service Bureau - but, unless you have Specific plans and WAYS to make it work (like - you ONLY Print objects you Inspect and Reject 80% of them - and you Largely focus on Small Production runs) - otherwise - FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enough said...

Yup - Been There... Done That...
