Hello,

I am getting this error when running Hiccups. I have already installed CUDA 7.5 on my computer but still getting this error. Any suggestions to fix that?

Thank you,

Sorry for the delayed response. Can you try to launch nvcc in a screen?

Hi,
What is the solution here? I also encounter the same error.
 Thanks!

Hi Raymond,

Did you try running the GPU Test?

Hello!

I have the same error. Here is the info on my server:

 nvcc --version

nvcc: NVIDIA (R) Cuda compiler driver

Copyright (c) 2005-2016 NVIDIA Corporation

Built on Tue_Jan_10_13:22:03_CST_2017

Cuda compilation tools, release 8.0, V8.0.61

and the GPU test:

./detect_gpu

  Memory Clock Rate (KHz): 4209491

  Memory Bus Width (bits): 0

  Peak Memory Bandwidth (GB/s): 0.000000

Device Number: 1

  Device name: ??D

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey Roberto,

Something seems wrong with the GPU setup:

  Device name: ??D

  Memory Bus Width (bits): 0

  Peak Memory Bandwidth (GB/s): 0.000000

Is this on a personal server or is there an IT contact for the cluster you are running on?
There may be an additional module/path required to properly set up the GPU.

Hello Muhammad,

It's on AWS. I installed the CUDA libraries myself so maybe something went wrong during the process. Is there a special way to install the CUDA libraries?

Thanks!

What type of instance?
And is this using the juicer AMI? (ami-458fc22f)

Just rebooted my AWS and it seems to have solved the problem:

Number of devices found: 1

Device Number: 0

  Device name: GRID K520

  Memory Clock Rate (KHz): 2500000

  Memory Bus Width (bits): 256

  Peak Memory Bandwidth (GB/s): 160.000000

However, it seems that my CUDA version is 7.5 now.

nvcc: NVIDIA (R) Cuda compiler driver

Copyright (c) 2005-2015 NVIDIA Corporation

Built on Tue_Aug_11_14:27:32_CDT_2015

Cuda compilation tools, release 7.5, V7.5.17

I am using the juicetools.jar release that is supposed to run on CUDA 8, but seems to be fine or should I kill the job and download the version that uses CUDA 7.5

java -jar juicer_tools.1.7.6_jcuda.0.8.jar hiccups untreated.hic unt

Reading file: untreated.hic

No valid configurations specified, using default settings

Default settings for 5kb and 10kb being used

Running HiCCUPS for resolution 5000

Yes, the JCUDA 8 jar bundled in Juicer Tools is backwards compatible with CUDA 6.5/7/7.5.
