If still living in Auckland I'd be there for sure; with bells on.
Taikata and mouth of Henderson Creek, Bombing Range, West Harbour and the whole area from Kauri Point to Hobsonville is very tidal and it is often faster to sail on the edges out of the tide with the foils up real high. If you have any 'training' foils use those for sure. Not really that much different from sailing at Pt Chev or Waiuku or French Bay in my opinion as an upper harbour venue it is well worth going. Mostly the bottom is soft, albeit grinding paste. But I'm sure they have it aligned with tides so it is only an issue if you go off piste.
