Code 128 randomly produces extra chars at the end

I have no idea why, but ZXING randomly translates my images with extra chars. It will scan 500 images without issue and then once in a while it just starts making things up

attached is a sample image which produces

-Type: CODE_128. Text: 2738909
-Type: CODE_128. Text: 2738901709

The first one is correct, the second one is not.

It is parsed correctly using other online libraries (ClearImage, DataSymbol....).

Any help would be appreciated.

Even weirder, the wide image shows both, the narrow image only produces one

I see that but only on the first image. 

It looks like a row isn't decoded quite right but it still reads as a valid Code 128, even with check digit. That's pretty rare but not impossible.
