Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd
by the clean end.
Settings->Peripheral Settings
Choose "Drive 8" tab or whichever one you want.
Select "Use IEC Device" checkbox.
Select "Real IEC device" radio button
Hit OK.
LOAD"$",8
You'll see the drive run.
Note: only works with un-protected disks without speeder protocols. It
will not work at all if you try anything that requires downloading code
to the drive that changes the IEC protocol.

I've tried this, but the "Real IEC device" radio button is greyed out.
I'm using VICE 2.3-x64.
The ZoomFloppy opencbm dll probably needs to be 64-bit too. The next
binary release will have 64-bit builds of OpenCBM as well as 32-bit
(which was released in January).
Try downloading 32-bit VICE. It should work just as fast and also link
ok with this OpenCBM release.

Here's one for you - I downloaded 2.3-x86 and the "Real IEC device" radio
button isn't even present. *facepalm*
Any suggestions?
tnx!
Dunno. I tested with VICE 2.1 32-bit and it worked. Try 2.2 or if that
fails, 2.1.

2.2-x86 worked. Thanks!

I have a question about "Real IEC device" support in VICE via ZoomFloppy. (WinVICE x86 versions 2.2 and 2.4 support the "Real IEC device.") Is it possible to use a microIEC or a SD2IEC hardware device attached to a ZoomFloppy as a "Real IEC device" in VICE?

Since VICE uses stock DOS protocols when using ZF, it should work fine.
