Xray selection toggle in 2015 not working...

In SI2013, when you activate Xray display mode, you can select objects behind, whitin and around objects. In SI2015, this is impossible, or disabled by default. You can see it, but can’t select it.

Is there a fix to this? Was this a feature that was disabled in 2015?

Any pointers, or even a fix would be kindly appreciated, it’s very annoying when I can’t select a deformer null to envelope, because I can only select the main envelope (unless I toggle it’s selectability).

It might be related to refactoring of selection we did for 2015.
To enable to the old selection system, you can set environment variable XSI_DISABLE_NEW_PICK=1

i.e. not in the environment variable reference list?
And what more does this change affect?

I added the variable and it fixed the issue. I hope it doesn’t affect anything else!

Glad to know the flag is working for you.

The refactoring was done to improve selection response in large/complex scenes (in some scenes, up to 20x faster).
The algorithm was changed significantly so we introduced XSI_DISABLE_NEW_PICK to revert back to the legacy algorithm in case of issues.

Thanks for pointing out the lack of documentation.
We have added that to the 2015 Readme but it might take a few days before the online docs reflect this change.

Hi Leendert,

The optimization affects rectangular selection.
Single-click selection is unaffected.

Specifically, it kicks in when:
- Doing a sub component selection (i.e points, edges, polygon etc.)
- Doing multi-selection (e.g. shift-key held down) in object selection mode.
(Single object selection defaults back to the legacy implementation)
