In the earlier days of WikiEducator, some used
blip.tv for delivering
their openly licensed videos.
blip.tv changed their business model a
couple of years ago, but still didn't find success and shut down their
service entirely last month. This message is a gentle reminder that
if you relied on
blip.tv in some of your resources, it is time to
update your wiki pages.
As the
blip.tv story illustrates, large scale video hosting is hard.
If your video is openly licensed, in an open format (or can be
converted), and of general interest, the Wikimedia Commons may be
appropriate. Vimeo is another option for some organizations. Or
simply linking to an external source will always work.
