Two of Stagecoach's Brynmawr-based 12.8m Enviro300-bodied MANs - 22783 and 22790 - are caught descending and thundering up the A465 at Clydach Gorge, when operating Service X4, in August 2011.

The X4 vehicles are 12.8m? I thought they bought that length only to find they couldn't "safely" navigate the route. Unless it was a different route of course.

Oops, forgot to say that they don't look any longer than the standard 12m length considering they're almost a metre longer.

To gauge the extra length of the MANs, compare the photograph of 22783 with one of the company's 12m Enviro300s.  The lesser number of windows is the best guide.

This is 27699, one of fourteen at Cwmbran depot, and one of a pair that did not receive route branding for Service X24 to enable them to be used on other services, as necessary.  Operating Service X24, it is seen on Glyndwr Road, Cwmbran in July 2011.

This looks much better than the X4 branded ones.I travelled on the X4 from Abergavenny to Pontypridd on a branded MAN stuck behind the contravision,a most unpleasant journey.

Keeping it in the family, this is Enviro200-bodied Dart 36407, one of seven delivered this year to Blackwood depot for Service 26 (Blackwood-Ystrad Mynach-Caerphilly-Cardiff), which is seen in Cardiff, crossing from North Road into Kingsway, in June 2011.

Ah yes, I can see the difference now. I might struggle if I didn't have a comparison though.
