Not all it may seem.

Veolia's Abercraf depot is committed to operating Powys County Council-contracted Service X63 (Brecon-Sennybridge-Ystradgynlais-Neath-Swansea) until early Summer 2012.  However, the four Plaxton Centro-bodied Volvo B7RLEs that have operating the contract since 2007 are in the process of being sold to Ensignbus.  To maintain the contract, two Plaxton Centro-bodied VDL SB200s that also passed earlier this year to Ensignbus and were then sold to New Adventure Travel are being hired to Veolia.  These are being joined by the company's remaining Plaxton Centro-bodied VDL SB200, CN07 FTC, recently made surplus at Newport depot.

New Adventure Travel CN07 FSY, which carried the pink ribbon and gift wrap livery with Veolia, is seen at Neath Railway Station heading for Swansea in October 2011.

I really don't understand their reasoning for selling the four Volvos (although X63 only needs three buses) only to need to hire buses to continue operating it. Some of the Volvos are still in service though.

Ensign may have offered them a good price. It's also a fairly common business practice now to flog something you own and lease it back. It frees up cash (or reduces debt) and looks good on the accounts.

This is also the company that opened what is still the newest bus depot in Wales then closed it within a year however!

I was thinking that myself, the cash they'd get from selling them would be more than the cost to hire for the remainder of the contract meaning they'd be better off. To me that suggests that as soon as X63 is finished they'll be packing their bags for good being the only thing keeping them here now (at Abercrave at least).
