I am receiving errors - "web page cannot be found" and "no such file or directory" - downloading Csipsimple and Xabber apps both on my smartphone and laptop.

Do you have the USB memory stick containing the necessary files set up and installed?

For some additional information, the Getting Started guide is here:

No I don't.

I was going by this comment on the "Getting Started" page: "If you already have similar software installed, we will provide the basic generic information you need to configure it for Wildernets but if you run into issues, we highly recommend you install the supplied software that has been fully tested to work without issue."

Furthermore, my searches have been unable to unearth directions to setup and install the necessary files on a USB stick.

Hi Adoss,

Sorry, I see you are right and that I don't have that bit documented yet.

To have the images available, prepare a USB flashdrive by formatting it for VFAT (under Linux) or FAT32 (under Windows) and give it a volume label of "WEBSITES". Then, grab the file "wn-usb-minimal.tgz" from:

Extract the above file into the top level of the USB drive. Now just insert the USB drive in the MP02. It should auto-mount to /www/webmain which is where the broken download links are pointing.

Cheers,

Keith

Two issues after following your directions:

1. For the smartphone it worked. I was able to follow all the steps. However, at the end I get this message "softph300 Error while registering - Forbidden".
Now, this message started appearing during my initial attempts. Initially, since I was already using CsipSimple regularly on my phone, I decided to register the new user "softph300" without doing a new download. It would not register and I got the "...forbidden" message on that user and my other two existing users! Since I could not resolve the error, I decided to uninstall and re-install the app. This apparently has not solved the problem. I have a sneaky suspicion this all has to do with checking the "unknown sources" check box. For those who are more knowledgeable a solution to this would be very much welcomed.

2. Use Chrome. Avoid Explorer. How do I install com.csipsimple_1.02....apk after downloading onto my laptop?

Thanks

Given my ongoing issues with Csipsimple (still seeking help with it - see above), I decided to install Jabber and registered two Jabber accounts. Though it says "available" on both accounts, I get the message "No online accounts", and a "Go online" button. When I click on the button, I get a "Connection error" and a "Registration error" message. I should not need access to the global internet, for this to work, correct? So, what am I doing wrong?

Hi Adoss,

Do you just have a single MP02 running Wildernets or more than  one?

Also, just to confirm, the password for "softph300" is "Pa55uu0rd300" where all three "0" are zeroes.

The idea behind having the .apk images available on the Wildernets network is that you may be joining a Wildernets network where there is no Internet. You would still be able to download the .apk directly to your Android device. This is why you have to allow "unknown sources". Without Internet, there is no way to get to "known sources" like Google Play store.

I can see no reason to download the .apk to a laptop. The "Install CSipSimple" link takes you through the process of downloading the .apk directly to your Android device via the web browser on your Android device.

Cheers,

Keith

Hello Keith,

For now I have three MP02s in modes 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

Yes, password confirmed as stated.

On the laptop issue, I was going to load a CsipSimple client on my laptop and since realized the app is not intended to operate on laptops.

Regards,
adoss

Hi Adoss,

Using the web browser on your Android device, can you connect to the MP02 at http://sip.lan? In order for sip.lan to get resolved to 192.168.1.252, your Android device has to be associated with the MP02's WiFi (VT_WNETS_AP). If the WNETS MP02 is hanging off another network, the WNETS name resolution won't be used and that would cause CSipSimple registration to fail.

I also assume that when you configured CSipSimple, you followed the instructions regarding choosing the "Basic" account type from the long list presented when you add a new account. With the Basic account type, you only supply the following four pieces of info:

Account name: softph300
User: softph300
Server: sip.lan
Password: Pa55uu0rd300

After saving the above, in CSipSimple you should see a green Android icon with "softph300" next to it and "Registered" underneath "softph300".

Cheers,

Keith

Hello Keith,

The error was mine - used "p" instead of "P"  in the password. Should have cleared my biological cache. Thanks for your patience!

Regards,

Adoss
