I first did this with Chrome Version 70.0.3538.102 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Mac Mojave,
then repeated it with the latest Firefox Quantum 63.0.3 (64-bit).
I got the same results in both browsers.

I tried Video DownloadHelper, and was pleased with the results.
I was downloading an mp4 video from a site that's spelled 80% the same as the word video.
Of course, it showed a watermark, which obscured the video.
So, I paid for Premium.
I restarted the browser, and re-downloaded the video.
The video plays, but is jittery. Unwatchably jittery.
(The watermark is gone.)
The audio is either okay, or the jitters are too small to notice.
I don't understand the settings; I played with them, and saw no change/improvement, so reset them to defaults.

I then repeated all of the above with Firefox.
This includes the success with watermarked videos,
upgrading to Premium, restarting the browser,
and getting jittery results after that.

Are there any setting changes you can suggest?
Is there any more/other information I can provide?

Thank you, and if you're in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving!

I did the paid version today, also, and I've tried a couple of different videos, that I could download with the QR code on them. Now the newly downloaded ones are also jittery and unwatchable. What's up?!

My guess: you are on a Mac and you watch a DASH video with QuickTime.

This is a known issue. Being premium, there is no watermark in the generated video, so the aggregation does not re-encode the video stream. This is much faster but it turns out QuickTime does not like it.

There are 2 known workarounds:

1/ use another video player than QuickTime, for instance VLC from https://videolan.org/
2/ re-encode the downloaded video (you can do download+conversion in a single operation) to output format "Re-encoded MP4 (h264+aac)" which ensures the video is re-encoded

You're either psychic, a good guesser, or experienced in supporting this tool.
I am on a Mac (but I said that, so it was a freebee), it was a DASH video, and I was watching in on QuickTime.
Thank you!

HI there VDHers!
I've tried all the suggestions here. I'm on a Mac. I'm premium VDH on Chrome and FF. Tried re-encoding with both browsers.  FF just says "running" but no percentage showing.   I'm at my wits end trying to get conversion of existing files to yield a satisfactory result of any kind.  "Re-encoded MP4" was what I thought would be a no brainer, yet it fails as well an WMV attempt.  See errors 1 & 2 respectively below.  Not sure if what if the streaming content was DASH video is but i'm pretty sure it downloaded as .mp4:

"You are on a Mac and you watch a DASH video with QuickTime.

I tried playback of downloaded video with VLC, different results, video still unusable.  QT playback was a sped up jerky video yet audio was fine.  VLC playback was slow, skipping frames, audio fine.   I tried re-encoding, twice, to two different outputs.  It either hangs at 1%, never completing even left alone overnight.  Finally had to abort.  Here are the two logs of the errors for the two different attempts in Chrome:

1:  re encode h.264

it also depends on the site. Can you share the URL of a public video with this problem ?
