I recently posted a review for this addon and was advised to clarify the details here.

I am using FireFox 37.0.1 and Version 5.1.2 of Video download helper (i have disabled other addons at present too).

My issue is when opening playlists (such as youtube), i used to be able to drag my mouse over the titles of the videos in the playlist and then when clicking the "download media links" button, it would queue up multiple files and start downloading the max amount (ie: queuing up 10 downloads with 2 max downloads would start 2 downloading and then when they finish, the next 2 would start, etc).

I have noticed now that it will only download the single file i click on to start the download (while multiple links are highlighted).  It appears to me that the issue is that its ignoring the other highlighted links. It does work fine if i click each link individually, but i loved the bulk downloading feature.

I have also tried this on multiple playlists and have got the same result. I don't believe i changed any options that would affect this (i just turned the 1280x720 variant off and the filename length to 128. changing them back to default had no change though).

Ok, let's do it from an example:

I go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEG-ly9tQGk . On the right of the page, there are a number of related videos. I mouse-select a number of them (say 4). I right click to open the context menu > "Video DownloadHelper" > "Download selected media links" (note the "s" at "links" which means that more than one video has been spotted in the selection. The 4 videos start downloading.

Maybe you are trying to multiple-select another way. Let us know how you do so. If this is possible, we'll add a fix for the next VDH update (which should be submitted tomorrow).

That indeed does work, but if i go to this link (a playlist) and highlight more than one, it still only downloads the first one:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=LLJZ94qp4dtCw0Q5UQqAkg7w

if i search a channel for repeated playlist words (ie: "title part" and it comes up with the results of title part 1, title part 2, etc), then that seems to be working fine, so i believe the main issue seems to be with the playlist page (like the one linked above).

Not sure if its a bug or just something that needs to be changed in options to get the playlist page to work.

Damned, this link (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=LLJZ94qp4dtCw0Q5UQqAkg7w) works for me: i select 4 items and VDH sees and downloads all four.

I don't think this has anything to do with your settings.

Could you do the following: mouse-select several entries in this page, right-click and pick "View selection source". Copy and paste the selected text to your reply.

The thing i noticed that seems to be what i have trouble with is that links on the side of the screen (such as related videos) or videos you find from searching the channel with have a link that looks like "watch?v=gfhjs44gh" (for example). Whereas the links i am highlighting in playlists have that, but also have &index=1&list=fdhjfdk3k4k after it (again, just made up examples). I have no idea why that works for you, but not for me, but thats the only thing i noticed that stands out as being different to searching (which is working)

Thanks for the traces. They look ok to me. I read the code again and i don't think the "&index=1&list=fdhjfdk3k4k" after "watch?v=gfhjs44gh" could cause a problem.

When you select several links, right click and pick "Video DownloadHelper", do you see "Download selected media links" or "Download selected media link" (with no "s" at the end). I would like to know if only 1 link is selected or if the links are correctly selected but for some reason, it downloads only the first one.

within the playlist, the word is just link. The other options that let me download multiple at a time (such as searching or the side bar) have the plural of links.

i am highlighting them the same way (clicking and dragging the mouse across), its just not working in the playlists, but the same action works through searching and the related videos.

We probably have something here !

I tried selecting several videos in the list from your sample URL and alway got "... links" (meaning it works as expected), until i start the mouse selection BEFORE the beginning of the list. In this case, i can finish my selection several items later in the list, i get "... link". So, there is clearly a bug and it should be solved in the next release.

Could you, on your side, try to select in the list, say the 3rd to 6th videos ? Do you get multiple selected videos ?

Thanks for catching and reporting the issue.

selecting 3-6 does indeed work.

it seems that (for example) selecting everything with ctrl+A will just show "link", as will dragging the mouse from the area above the first video (where it says details about the playlist and share, save, etc). first clicking just the side of the first letter of video 1 and dragging all the way down to the bottom does work too. So does clicking and dragging from the bottom.

so after all that, it seems mostly the problem is just me selecting it in a way that used to work. Thanks for taking the time to help here, i hope the issue is still solved as there may be at least a few people out there who assumed it'd work no matter how its highlighted.

I'm gonna change my review to 5 on the mozilla site too. Now that i dont have the issue, its working great. thanks.

i also have tried this updated version and i get the same situation as above. Works fine by selecting 3-6 or from selecting the word of the first video onwards, but still will only show "link" if you click ctrl+a or if you click and drag from above the first video (from inside the playlist info section or so).
