Hey all ... I'm trying to figure out why the previous owner (or ? ... someone ... ) seperated, and left disconnected, a multi-wire connector under the lower helm.

There are 7 positions used in a (dark) blue? 9 position pin / socket connector.  The wires are all primarily white, 6 of which have a coloured stripe (all aspects of female socket side of connector shown below).

This next photo shows the un-used male pin side of connector (those 4 black hoses below are part of my [still working!] windshield washer system):

I have two wiring diagrams in my Uniflite Owners Manual ... '42 SPORTFISH, 42' DOUBLE CABIN  DUAL STATION, DC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM  JOHNSON TOWERS -DIESEL  500444-5 C' & '1979 UNIFLITE ALARM, 7 POINT W/DUAL HELM OPTION'.

I don't see any reference to a (dark) blue?, 9-position connector with 7 white wires ... does anyone recognize these wires / this connector?

Thanks, Kevin Mc

OK ... an update ... on the alarm wiring diagram (directly above), I do see my target wire colours at the ENGINE MONITORING UNITS section, PINS side of connector 9B1 through 7 (except that my physical observation is of the SOCKET side):

9B1 & 4 are White / Tan
9B2 & 5 are White / Light Blue
9B3 & 6 are Yellow / Violet (the primary Yellow colour is very faded and I was initially fooled into thinking it was off-white)
9B7 is White

... the 9-position connector halves I'm physically looking at having matching wire colours, both sides ... I am not seeing the colours I should be seeing per the diagram's SOCKET side:

9B1 should be Red
9B2 should be Blue
9B3 should be Orange
9B4 should be Green
9B5 should be Yellow
9B6 should be Brown
9B7 should (still) be White (as it physically is)

... so ... I think this connector is definitely alarm-related ... perhaps it came apart w/o me noticing (doubtful, as the connector locking lugs seem to be intact ... the connector halves would have had to have been not fully mated for this to happen) as I opened the Lower Helm console ... on one of only 3 occasions so far ... and ... perhaps this connection simply extends functionality to the Fly Bridge ... of which 4 out of 7 indicator lights were and still are comng on with the DC Panel ALARM switch turned On.

I think I'll plug it back together now that I (sort of) know what it's for ... and see what happens ... Kevin Mc

Hey all ... the reason for this connector being found disconnected under the lower helm seems clear now ... please see my RED, BLUE & GREEN ELECTRONIC MODULEs of the '1979 UNIFLITE ALARM, 7 POINT W/DUAL HELM OPTION' thead.

BTW - I did initially try putting this, the Subject, lower helm connector back together (it still is) to evaluate any effect (none), however, after later seeing the condition of the alarm electronics modules and finding another disconnected alarm wiring connector under the flybridge moulding, it seems clear that portions of the alarm wiring were intentionally disabled, by someone, at some point in time, likely after they experienced alarm malfunctions and eventually figured out the modules had been compromised.

So with that realization, I will now close out my activity in this thread, endeavor to repair the electronics modules and do so in and from that thread.

Thanks to those who read / reviewed this thread (the wiring diagrams may still prove helpful to someone else), Kevin Mc
