I have set up Belle on a server so people can have a play about with it:

just after I spent an hour or two trying to figure out why it wasn't working locally :(.

Thanks for doing this, it's very helpful and I'm sending the address on to some of my co-workers who use Umbraco so they can see it.

No worries, hopefully it gets more people involved.

Thanks so much Brendan, this way I can show it to "users" and get feedback, very useful thanks!

Just tried it out... first things I noticed....

1. In the content section, I can no longer find out what a node's doctype is.
2. Publish and save buttons are at the very bottom of the screen and completely out of sight. If they are going to be there then they also need to be at the top. Preferably the top left as that is where people (Umbraco devs, and novice editors who use MS Word) are familiar with having them.
3. To me everything seems too spaced out. Feels like Gmail in "Comfortable mode". But I prefer to use Gmail in "Compact mode"
4. On folders in the tree, the left triangles denoting expandability should be on by default. Otherwise there is no indication that they are expandable until you hover.
5. BUG: On folders/nodes, the cog on the right denotes that you've hovered over something but if you click it does nothing. You have to actually click the word. You cant even click the cog or the icon. This is a big usability issue.

On the subject of 1) no way to see what template is assigned, or change it either.......

Anthony, agree with all your subjects...

On subject 2 - I made a draft illustration where the save and preview could be placed top left: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/umbraco-ux/T9YPUuSApGA

On subject 3 - would be neat to have both modes (like Gmail), to fit your specific preference and use. Might use a different setting on a touch device vs a PC

6. It's not clear how to create a new document.
7. How do I refresh the tree? I cant!... oh wait, if i click "do something else" then I get the option. Very confusing
8. The slide out panel needs to be more noticable. I didnt even notice that it appeared. It should slide out, be a different color, and have a hover state.
9. It's not obvious that I MUST enter a document name.
10. The document name is at the top left. So why have the name field under the properties tab?
11. I really think loosing right-click is going to cause usability problems. People are very used to doing right-click in the desktop scenario. If it looks like a folder tree, people will try to right-click it and expect some sort options.

Regarding Anthony's latest points...

6. and 7. - A way of making these more clear is also illustrated in my draft: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/umbraco-ux/T9YPUuSApGA where a 'Plus icon' appears on hover - see 'Frontpage sliders' in the tree, so 'Create' is more obvious. This way the 'Options-icon' is only dedicated to show options and obsoletes the (rather funny) 'do something else' button.

9. - Is also addressed in the above link, and could be more obvious by having all editable fields have a the same background color (white in the draft).

8. and 10. agree.

11. Think this could work if it's done right and consistent, as it should be possible (and easy) to use the back office on touch devices.

*amendment for point 5.

Clicking the cog actually pops up the slide out. But I didnt notice that it came up.

(listning, but think this thread deserves to live on its own without me, Anders and Per killing it too early)

7 - clicking the cog next to content gives a context menu too. Agreed it isn't clear though.
8 - or physically slide the content pane to the right as well, rather than dropping the create panel over the top. The animation would make the change more obvious, and can tap into the app-style menus that people are more and more familiar with. Would be nice to be able to hide the tree as well on any screen resolution.
