While I agree with his op-ed, the more I think about it, the more I think by the time the ink has dried on the paperwork, cable will have ceased to be relevant. I'm still against it, I just care about the issue less than when I first heard about it.

Kevin, If the major cablers weren't trying to insert themselves into internet/broadband, I'd be with you.  Cable may cease to be relevant by the time the merger is final, but some of these companies will still have large chunks of coverage for internet access.

While there are more cord cutters, most people still have cable and will continue to for a while or until HBO Go and other online services are available without a cable sub.

And the merger may give Comcast leverage to delay the inevitable

To both David and Steve,

Don't misunderstand me. I'm against the merger. And I do see the potential threat of them buying up all of the series of tubes we call the internet. I'm just not ready to commit a lot of attention to following the story, especially since despite Sen. Franken's efforts, the merger is a foregone conclusion.
