Both the Basic Cable Band and Karen (Reggie Watts' band on LLS) took a run at the Late Night theme tonight (BCB coming back from the first break, and Karen in place of the LLS intro music).  Put them alongside 8G (the current Late Night Band) from Tuesday night's open and you might be able to judge which band is the best.

Now The Roots may have done this at some point, or even tonight (thought it might be extra weird with Eubanks sitting in), so adjust things accordingly.

I feel like the play-out to commercial after NBC Jimmy's Letterman tribute in the A block on Monday night was supposed to be the Late Night theme (which, let's be honest...let's just call it "Dave's Theme"), but just sounded more like a generic vamp.  The Roots were definitely playing something else when the show returned from commercial.
