Now that both FCC staff and Justice Dept lawyers appear to have soured on the merger, and the Commish suggested it wouldn't budge without an extended hearing, sources told Bloomberg (link) Comcast's board made its final decision, and the scuttling will be announced tomorrow (24)...

TWC's message to public on this is officially "Meh", although I'm sure their CEO isn't happy about losing his $80million buyout bonus.

It's also not stopping TWC from eliminating analog service across its footprint. Starting this summer in North Carolina, every jack is going to need a box, digital terminal adapter, or cable card.

The Austin TWC cable-apocalypse is in full swing. There's only a
handful of analog stations left, all broadcasting a static "you need a
box" message. All the digital channels are now encrypted. This is
causing some big problems here in our Roku TV development office --
we're having to set up our own internal mini-cable network just to be
able to test the ClearQAM features on our TVs.
