Ridley Scott and Lynda Obst optioned Richard Preston's non-fiction book about the disease, The Hot Zone, 20 years ago with the original intent of doing a feature film, but sat on it until seeing the recent reports... Preston is writing a new article on the epidemic for the New Yorker, an article from which led to the original book, and which will be worked into the series' treatment before it's pitched to networks...
