Rob Wade, who replaced Conrad Green (now dealing with the supercrazy on "Utopia"), says that judge DNCEMSTR Len Goodman (Annie Barrett, where are you now?) will take off for four to five episodes this season as the annual commutes from London to LA to do both "Dancing with the Stars" and parent show "Strictly Come Dancing" were taking their toll and that former pro Julienne Hough is needed on the panel as a ballroom dancing specialist, something Carrie Ann Inaaaba and Flaming Bruno aren't:

No indication if there'll be guest judges this cycle for Goodman's seat on his weeks off.

Changes I noticed last night:  New theme song (after already changing the logo from the original, although from seeing a video of the Australian version, it seems that BBC Worldwide is not as demanding about the foreign versions being very faithful to the original as they were with "The Weakest Link") and Alan Dedicoat cut down to the bone (he's only heard calling the judges' names for the scores and his "dawncing the cha-cha-cha..." intros have been replaced by lower thirds at the top of the number--and Bergeron's intros into the packages).  And lots of sloppy tech work, including stagehands scurrying about behind Bergeron (for which he said, "they must think the premiere's tomorrow night"--another reason Bergeron's the best dong live television).

And in the UK, this is "SCD"'s first season without Bruce Forsyth hosting, who has retired from regular television after 60 (!) years.  He'll appear on certain episodes this season, but Claudia Winkelman, who was hosting the results shows (which are taped after the voting closes on Saturday evenings) and before that the BBC2 weekday rehearsal footage show "SCD:  It Takes Two," is the permanent replacement for Brucie.  I assume it's the only version of "DWTS" anywhere now where both hosts are women (Tess Daly has been doing the kiss-and-cry area duties for every season except one).
