The Rail & Transit Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oregon State University (OSU) are collaborating on a project to develop a new public transit ridership data standard. More information about this project can be found here: http://mime.oregonstate.edu/research/mtsl/ridership/SPR803_Ridership_Project_Summary.pdf
Last fall we collected information about the current state of ridership data through an online questionnaire. A big thank you to all those that participated. From what we learned through the questionnaire responses, and in collaboration with government and industry stakeholders, an initial draft of an open ridership data standard has been created.
The data standard, which we are calling GTFS-ride, may be found at https://github.com/ODOT-PTS/GTFS-ride. We ask interested parties to review the standard, especially GTFS-ride/spec/en/reference.md, and provide feedback to improve the standard for all users. For consideration in the initial release of the standard, we ask that all feedback be received by 6pm Friday, May 12th.
For questions about GTFS-ride, contact Dr. J. David Porter at (541) 737-2446 or by email at david....@oregonstate.edu.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
Sincerely,
J. David Porter, Ph.D.

J. David,
Thank you for offering the opportunity to comment on the specification. If people have feedback how would you like them to provide it?
Sincerely,Dave Barker, MBTA
