Hey All,

I just wanted to pass along the update from the host of this Saturday's Maine State Snowshoe Championship in Rangeley:

"Our conditions are very good for the coming race and only will improve to "great" with the anticipated snows coming over the days leading to race day.  The course is also great.creating a challenge for the racers.  It's in the wild! with the majority of the course being on our designated snowshoe trails, that will have points of interest, views, two recently constructed memorial bridges, a Boston Strong Bridge a 30 ft. span and the Wounded Warrior Brige a 60+ span. costructed in the wild, our 1st place prize for man and woman is a pair of Dion reacing snowshoes."

In other words, this race sounds like it's going to be awesome. Whether you're planning on running at Nationals or not, it would be great to have a big TMR contingent. Right now, registrations are shockingly low, for a race that in a lot of ways means a lot and will be on a terrific course.

You don't need to purchase a USSSA membership to run this race. You only need a membership if you plan to run at Nationals in Vermont on 3/1.

Speaking of Nationals, I want to emphasize again that it is much easier to qualify than you may think. Here are the basics.
1. Be  USSSA member
At a qualifying race, aka Rangeley:
2. Finish in the top ten overall men or women.
3. Finish top five in your age group, which are 5 year increments
4. Finish within 130% of your age group winners time.

Right now, there are about 10 people registered for Saturday's race, so as long as you finish the race you're guaranteed to qualify.

Also, there is a "citizen's" race at Nationals. A 5k held later than day for anyone who did not qualify or is not a USSSA member. In other words, you can go to Nationals, watch the championship races, and still race. Super cool. (Personally, I love this option because I'd love to watch the winners of the champ races, since there's no way I'll see the top men after the race starts.)

I know that there's a bit of travel involved for both of these races, but I don't when Nationals will be again held in New England as they rotate sites from East, Midwest and West. East is usually far flung New York. This event is kind of a big deal, and we're the biggest contingent from Maine that can support it.

Hit me up if you have questions.

- Ryan

I would add that as of this email, the race is a sausage party.
