I came across the PyCon page (1) today and see that the last documented TracSprint at PyCon was in 2011. I was wondering if there was anyone on this list that has attended a TracSprint at PyCon in the past, knows what the turnout was like and whether there have been any since then. I know it's a ways off still and registration hasn't even opened yet, but is there any interest in having a TracSprint at PyCon in 2014?

yes , especially if that includes working on plugins too ... is that
the case or is it just limited to Trac core ?

It looks like work was planned or done on plugins at the last sprint,
I'd be interested in working on either the Trac core or plugins (including Bloodhound of course) :)

which might just be a matter of including Bootstrap UI templates .

This is a great idea, I'm very interested too.

I was in Atlanta in 2010, and met Tim Hatch, John Hampton, Eli Carter
and Noah Kantrowitz. We had quite a productive sprint after the event,
with many bug fixes and a few new features (I remember writing the
ticket deleter there).

I wasn't able to attend in 2011. In 2012 in Santa Clara, I met Tim Hatch
and Simon Cross (of Genshi Team). I unfortunately couldn't stay for the
sprints, so I don't know if anything happened there.

But with that single experience, I can tell: do try to organize a sprint
at PyCon 2014. It's a wonderful experience, a very productive and fun
environment, and you get to meet many great people. Work on Trac core,
work on Trac plugins, work on other projects: it doesn't matter, as long
as you're having fun.

Also, pro tip: make sure you attend the testing BoF.

Thank Remy. I'm glad to see that a few people are interested.

The sprints page for 2014 (1) doesn't have much info yet, but I'll plan to organize the sprint and will post more info here as it becomes available.

One of the two projects I have in mind is replacing the functional test infrastructure written in Twill with one using Selenium (1), or anything else that is more powerful, easier to debug , generally more user-friendly and supports testing JavaScript code. The other project I have in mind is integration of AnnouncerPlugin, which I know that Steffen and Peter were both interested in making happen for Trac 1.2. Not that we could fully accomplish either of those in a week-long sprint, but perhaps a significant bit of either could be accomplished and we could get some momentum going for moving a feature into Trac 1.2.

Btw, registration opened for Pycon 2014 ;)

Yeah , I'd like to work on the functional test suite too ... even if
the jump is not too high at least considering the following aspects in
order of complexity afaict :

- retwill
- Phantom JS
- Backport the work on functional testers in bh:ticket:387
* ... plus a few crazy ideas that I hope u r gonna <3 :)
* ... plus running RPC test suite using multiple protocols
+ AMF , Hessian, ...
- Multiple commands in a single trac-admin session
* bh:ticket:651
- Testing (JS) on multiple browsers
- Selenium

... and I've heard that historically there's very good pizza in the
testing BoF ... ñam !
:)

I see no details yet for PyCon'2014

Many initiatives come to my mind too ... but not enough time for everything ...
It'd be interesting to hear more suggestions

I think you're going to be surprised at how much you're able to achieve
in three days of dedicated work in a productive environment. Don't set
your goals too low.
