Hi all,
I have followed up all the critique so far and this is my report.
1: query said:"The orange on the viewed menus washed out a bit on my
system."
This took a considerable time but I traced in down to an obscure <ul
li a:visited link color> in the menu stylesheet that only revealed
itself in IE and then only on the home button. Who knows about visited
links these days anyhow so I deleted it.
2: Dave said the the header was too big and of course it was in the
sidebar. What looked fine in a full screen didn't when compressed
into the sidebar. I have reduced its height to a more reasonable
percent of the window of the sidebar.
3: Thanks to Alex for his congratulations; it lifts one's spirit while
trying to trace down problems and makes the effort seem worthwhile.
4: Thanks to FND for the same reason. Your comments about the colors
is fair comment as red on green is well known for creating dazzle.
(That was part of my fascination for it; I'm attracted to shiny
objects:-) fSo I have changed the text to black but kept the vivid
gradient I wonder if that helps ease your eyes?
5: Dave's comment about ease of loading in the sidebar is a good one
and thanks to FND's interesting little script it was too tempting not
to put it on the menu. I started using it from almost the minute I
put it on.
I've got tool tips on almost all of the menu items since a few are
unusual, but how do you stop the standard 'author and date tooltip' ?
I've seen how somewhere long ago...... I still want the toolbars to
toggle; although it can be tedious sometimes I think the clean look
without the toolbars and title is worth it. I suppose they could be
made to hover on mouseover......but recovering the space would cause
jumping motion that would annoy me more than toggling it manually.
I am not afraid of the backstage anymore. I can do with it almost what
I want. I've got the backstage/close button to always remain in the
right hand corner and centered in my header no matter what the screen
size. I figure if you can't get rid of the damned thing you might as
well make it look like part of the design :-)
I am ready for he next round of suggestions etc. We can start thinking
about using it for something :-)
I see it used in two broad ways. First as a general reference tool
for TiddlyWiki reference stuff and links etc. that can be part of the
standard download along with a variety of other optional tiddlers for
special use. Second for users to customize it for a myriad of uses
which is as varied as there are people.
I think is is a good example for having a reason for using some of the
new features such sharing tiddlers, importing/exporting synchronizing
etc. being brought more into general/daily use. I know I'd like to get
to know how to use some of these things.
I thinkTiddlyWiki has found a niche. I can hear the gears turning in
Dave's head already; FND's too :-)
