Hi everyone,

haven't been posting much the last years. No more Tuning but actually
using functioning adaptations daily.

However, just took a look what new plugins could add and thereby
realized that even my most favorite plugin - YourSearchPlugin by Udo,
as well as it's bookmarklet - doesn't run with the latest version
anymore. :-(
Also realized that Eric didn't update TiddlyTools already for more
than a year to the latest version.

All that development where so many developers of excellent plugins
can't keep up with is too bad.

Just my 2 cts of lamentation.

Regards

Hm. I'm using YourSearchPlugin (2.1.5, from 2010-02-16), in TW 2.6.4
right now... I don't remember having any problems with *that* plugin,
when I went from 2.5.1 to 2.6.4... but then, I waited for the dust to
settle a bit on 2.6.x before i upgraded too.

What kind of problems are you having?

I don't use the bookmarklet... but I give the plugin itself steady
workout, every day.

Thanks for the feedback. The problem is (though with the plugin
manager there isn't any indication) the search function just bypasses
YourSearch and uses the TW own search without showing YourSearch's
results popup. Now tested with vanillas 2.6.3, 2.6.4., and 2.6.5 TWs.
on FF 7.0.1. Which browser are you're using?

Have to apologize, because it's rather browser development where
developers have a hard time to keep up with, YourSearch still works in
2.6.x on FF 4.0.1.

Again only the half truth. More precise:

YourSearchPlugin and it's bookmarklet still work with FF 7.0.1 and TW
version 2.5x, but not with 2.6.x TW versions.

I'm using TW 2.6.4 and Firefox 7.0.1 and YourSearchPlugin works well for me.
I use it everyday.

Ah. That's probably where the issue is... the browser. I use prism on
both windows and linux to run my TWs... so they truly behave like
applications. I was very disappointed when mozilla dropped prism...
I just this past week built my own copy of prism from source (1.0b8 I
think), against the latest 3.6.x firefox source. Works great. The
changes they made with gecko 2.0, very much broke a lot of how prism
works with xulrunner... and I guess the guys who were maintaining
prism at the time didn't have the time for it.

It was picked up by salsitasoft, and rebranded webrunner, but that
too, has been discontinued.

I hope the "chromeless" project at mozilla picks up steam, and can
pick back up where prism left off. If I had the time, I'd love to
update prism to work under the latest firefox branch... and if
chromeless doesn't get to a usable stage in the next 6 months, I might
just have to, so that I don't get stuck in a situation of staying with
prism, but not being able to upgrade TW because of some new brower
function that TW requires, or upgrading TW, but losing the "standalone
app" features of prism.

I'll do some testing (I'd like to know if my main tw and my mgsd
version both work under FF7 on both desktops, anyway), and post the
results...

Ok. I had no problem with FF7.0.1, on Fedora or XP. Even starting
with a blank TW under FF7 on XP with just the YourSearch plugin worked
without a hitch.

I was half hoping to run into a problem (I like debugging/
troubleshooting... what can I say), but it just worked. Didn't have
any problems like I had run into with previous 2.6.x versions and
newer FF versions.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and that testing, perlguy. So there is
hope I'll get it running too. Just have to find the add-on which is
interfering in my case.

Deactivated all add-ons and FF plugins, still didn't make YourSearch
work.

Only if FF changed to 'private mode' it does work. What could this
mean?

Try creating a new profile in FF... could be some odd cookie or cached
content that's interfering.

firefox -ProfileManager -no-remote

Thanks a lot. It was some odd cookie!
