I have dropped out of following TW for a while abut I was wondering
how to upgrade my TW's from 2.6.2. I have a variation of Morris
Gray's modification of No Brainer notes with a changed colour scheme.

As I understand it you download an empty TW and then upload Tiddlers
from the old version. But when I do this I get an error message
"Error: A script from "http://" was denied Universal File Read
privileges" .

I am using FF-15 on a Windows 7 (64 bit ).

I am sure I am not alone getting this message but a quick look at this
group didn't find what I wanted.

Can anyone help?

Iain

As of FF15, scripts can no longer request privileges via
PrivelegeManager functions. To save files using FF15, you need to
install a very small FireFox addon that Jeremy Ruston has written for
this exact purpose.

See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tiddlyfox/

I have FF 15
And TW 2.6.6 alpha 1
and Tiddly Fox
on Win XP

I can't use the built-in import tool for anything. I can't load locally (Universal File Read) and I can't load from tiddlytools.com.

If I install your import tool, then I can import locally, but I still can't import from tiddlytools.com

Thanks,
Mark

I must admit that that is my problem as well despite installing the
plugin recomended by Eric.

Hi Alfonso,

thx for replying, but I knew that already and found it under http://firefoxprivileges.tiddlyspot.com

To sum it up: its four years old, talks about FF 2.0.0.12 and 3.0b4 - everything described is under beta and doesn't help at all for the current problem.
Using FF 3.6 is not an option - that's just Russian roulette...
(I better stay on my old TW version)

I also tried to tune the FF profile settings with

user_pref("capability.principal.codebase.p0.granted", "UniversalXPConnect");
user_pref("capability.principal.codebase.p0.id", "file:///C:/Users/NAME/tiddlywiki.html");
user_pref("capability.principal.codebase.p0.subjectName", "");

in prefs.js  (while FF was not running of course), but FF overwrites prefs,js in the moment I try to import the old data.

Any idea somebody?

Thx,
mh

** Seems core upgrades or tiddler imports may not work unless both TWs are at root level, or only 1 folder in, and in same folder. I've seen this previously with upgrades/imports of other versions, so I'm doing that here.

6.2 6.3 won’t upgrade directly
got v 2.6.3 2.6.4 from TW archive
got 6.2 to export (using import) to 6.3, then import to 6.4 in the same folder at root level
6.4 upgraded to 7.1 when in the same folder at root level
upgraded TW tested ok
discovered I can import to 2.6.4 directly and skip one step
-----
current method
(worked with versions as far back as 2.6.1)

1 copy old file to root folder
2 put copy of 264 next to it
3 import from old file to 264
4 then upgrade core of 264 to 271 and rename
5 move back to home folder, make a copy as backup, keep original file in case
6 test
