I needed a break from the DC area so I fished somewhere south of Virginia and north of Georgia.  Had a blast, caught some fish.  Thought I escaped all my problems but heard about the storm and came back and lost everything in my fridge and got serious reverse-raccoon tan lines on my face, but it was worth it.

I highly recommend fishing for tailing redfish in the grass.  Lots of fun, great barbecue, and the oysters were plentiful.

Where would be a good place to find tailing Reds in the grass?  That sounds like an awesome trip!

I like how you tantalized us all with image001.png, Richard.  I thought I was going to see a google map.  ;-)  I'll venture a guess that you were somewhere between Cape Fear, NC  and Charleston, SC.

Nice job, detective   ;)

Lots of opportunity down there, but you need to know the areas and how the flood and a local guide is key.  This is not something you can drive down to and DIY.

Jonesing for a boat now and can’t wait to hit the Potomac.

Awesome post! That fish looks great.

Heavetoo,

The reds get pretty think in the tidewater area too, although the pups run in cycles up here (3-4 year cycles). The last real solid run I'd say was now about 3-4 years ago. Hopefully this year is better! Definitely a very powerful fish.

My mother lives in same town the late Dick Talleur moved to.  Amen on the guide for local knowledge. The inshore tidal waters are amazing and mystifying to me.
