This is a reminder to all that the next  TPFR BEER TIE is this Monday, January 14 from 7PM-9PM at RiRa Irish Pub in Arlington.  Details and directions can be found on our EVENTS PAGE.  As we have done for the past several years, at the next two BEER TIES we will be collecting flies to donate to the NOVA Chapter of CCA VIRGINIA and the Greater Washington Chapter of CCA MARYLAND.  Both organizations have their annual fundraiser banquets coming up in the next few months, and the TPFR Fly Selections we have donated for the last few years have earned some high bids at their silent auctions.  Attached is a picture of one of our selections donated last year - let's do it again!

What works best is to tie the flies you wish to donate in advance and just bring them with you to BEER TIE to drop into the bin rather than trying to tie them there.  This way, they can be tied in good light and glued/epoxied as necessary.  Of course, you can tie more at the pub and toss them in as well!

The banquet dates are March 2nd for the NOVA Chapter and February 28 for the Greater Washington Chapter, so we have the next two BEER TIES to accumulate flies.  I would also encourage our members to support these organizations by considering attending the banquets which are always a great time with great people and for a great cause.  And if you have not done so already, I highly recommend JOINING CCA.  Any of us who fish the river, bay, or shoreline owe a great debt of gratitude to CCA both locally and nationally for their constant work and vigilence helping to protect our valuable marine resources.  And any tidal fish that grace us with their presence here in the Nation's River swam through CCA waters to get here!

At BEER TIE this week, Miles and/or Rob will be teaching dubbing techniques at the Beginner's Table.  I'll let them provide the details.  And Ernie Rojas will be donating 2 NOVA CCA Banquet tickets to the raffle - THANK YOU ERNIE!

This is shaping up to be an awesome BEER TIE, but then again, they all are!  See you there!

I second Dan's comments on Coastal Conservation Association - CCA!  Last year I attended the CCA Virginia banquet and had an outstanding time, won: a YETI Cooler! CCA Beer Glasses, 2 CCA hats and an LL Bean landing net!  At auction I won a trip with Brady Bounds to fly fish the salt for stripers!   The YETI was a coveted price, it retails for about $300, I bid on the TPFR box of flies but could not keep pace.

But more important than the prizes - the people and the cause are worthy of your time and commitment.  It was a great event and if you want to learn about fly-fishing and protecting the salt, go to the banquet, you will meet the right people.  If I recall, ERNIE was the gent that called my ticket for the YETI, needless to say I owe him a beer.  I will see you all at the CCA banquet!

Thanks Dan and TPFR!

The TPFR fly assortments always sell well.

I've attached the Greater Washington Chapter Flyer for this year. Not only do you get an premium open bar and all the oysters you can eat, you also get a CCA membership.

It is also a great place to meet the conservation community in DC. We usually sell tables to American Sportfishing Association, BoatUS, National Marine Manufacturers Association and Pew Oceans Group to name a few.

Thanks again,

Brad
