I spent the last 3 weeks in Yokohama Japan for work, while there I managed to book a Japanese sea bass charter in Tokyo bay.  I went out with Captain Keiichiro Okamoto, who spoke english well and was quite knowledgeable of the bay.  It was definitely some urban/industrial fishing, but the water was clear and he was able to put me on a decent number of fish.

I also spent a day fishing on the Tama river west of Tokyo, which was a lot more of a shot in the dark.  I didn't catch any fish, but it was good to be on a mountain stream, and I was able to sight cast to a couple of carp I saw feeding.  I also saw some Japanese fisherman using what must have been 20 ft rods with no reels trying and catch ayu.  The technique was to use 1 ayu on 2 hooks to anger other ayu in the river and when they fight a second Ayu would get hooked as well.
