Hello all,

I am in need of some TPFR assistance.  My good friend from Louisiana is coming to DC tomorrow as we originally had the intention of landing shad, snakeheads and stripers in a long weekend of fishing debauchery.  He booked his ticket in January for this weekend as we wanted to beat the Virginia Coastal striper season end of 3/31.  Original plan was to hit Fletchers Thursday early morning to flyfish for the shad, Tidal Basin afterwards, 4MR for the outgoing tide around 10a, the Occoquan for snakeheads afterwards, then down to Virginia Beach for the weekend to kayak and surfcast for stripers to be back Monday for Nats home opener.  I figured that was a solid intro to the DC and Chesapeake fishing scene.  Now, with this terrible weather still lingering (although the weekend forecast looks nice), I'm thinking we need to change plans and head further south (i.e. Oregon Inlet in the Outer Banks).  For all I know we might play a big game of left, right, straight chasing fish and end up in Augusta for the Masters.  Does anyone have any guidance or advice for where we can go and catch some fish?  He really wants to catch a snakehead and a striper but at this point anything will do.  Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pat

I'm on spring break with the family down past Oregon Inlet right now - the only fish I've caught were two stingrays on shrimp bait.  I cast in the surf, along the sound and didn't even see one fish.  The water is still in the high 40s.  The charters are catching from the Gulf Stream if that's what you are targeting.
