Amazing!  My office window looks over the river, and there was a huge first responder presence there.  I guess this is the reason.

Why is the canal dry?  I tried to get some casting in over the weekend by fletchers, and there was no water (seems to still be no water by that picture).

The NPS often dewaters it this time of year for lock maintenance. It is always a concern for the Family and Youth Casting Call and last year they filled it for the event and drained it again the week after.
