Welcome Ryan. Clouser minnows in sizes 6 through 2 in chartreusse and white do alot of justice out here. Another streamer pattern I recommend is the beadhead wooly bugger in sizes 10 through 6 in olive and black. Given you have a 6 to 8 wt rod these flies are easily roll castable. Of course there are other patterns I would recommend nymphs, top water, and other streamers but a clouser minnow will serve you well for almost all of the fish out here.
Also the shad run is approaching so make sure to acquire some shad flies.

On April 1 there will be a "beer tie" event. I highly recommend you try and make it. You can meet the local anglers, drink brews, and learn how to tie flies.

Hey Everyone!

My name is Ryan and I am new to the board and new to fly fishing. I have a small selection of flies but wanted to see if there are any recommendations of good starter kits to get a good variety of flies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

beer ties is a good place to start.
I am also new to fly fishing and if it had not been for the bluegills of 4mr I would have given up already. Get a few small poppers in your arsenal as well.
I have been having fun snagging trees and catching bluegills on small foam poppers that I tie myself. They are ugly as sin, but somehow work.
