There is a dam project being done that has dropped the lake about 5-7 feet from its normal levels.  The dam is closed.

I fished yesterday, and for the flyfisherman, there is anywhere from a 20 to a 50 foot strip around the entire lake that makes access walking really easy.  Wading not allowed, but all of the exposed shore that I walked on was firm (though I wish I had worn boots instead of tennis shoes).

I caught several bass and tons of bluegills.

Good to know I heard about the dam project and was interested in checking out the lake while the water level was low to see what it would be like. I understand you cannot use the dgif boat ramp at the moment, but am curious if anything is stopping you from using a canoe or kayak.
