Finally, a Trout within the Beltway!

After a few unsuccessful attempts to land a trout within the beltway (or get any bites for that matter) I landed this nice Rainbow at Holmes Run yesterday!  The water had gone down considerably from the previous day (after the storm came through).  I was surprised at how dramatic the difference was.  I can't say the water was any less murky however!!!  I caught this guy on a size 14 or 16 copper john dropped off a stimulator.  I was actually surprised at the size too, I thought everything would be in the 7-9 inch range.  So here's some motivation to get out there.

Finally??? I've caught dolly varden and brookies in rock creek for years.

I've been looking for a spot to catch trout in Rock Creek for a year or two where do you go, I manage to hook into some bluegills and bass every now and then.

Dolly Varden in rock creek does not sound right. But kudos to Travis for landing that rainbow inside the beltway!

I landed a 13in rainbow under the porter bridge last fall, but it was definitely a stockie that washed in during the derecho.  Only heard of one other person catching a trout in DC rockcreek.  Would love to know what you are referring to...

Yeah, Lucas, buddy, I've seen some little brookies in RC but claims of catching dolly varden in Rock Creek are going to need to be backed up with some photos. Are you sure you know what a DV is? To my knowledge, they're not stocked outside of the Pacific Northwest and they don't run in the Atlantic.
