I took the baby lady fishing today at Four  Mile Run. We fished for about half an hour. I was throwing a 9.5 foot 6wt with my own slider pattern. We worked the shores around 11am. She in back pack, me in waist high waders. It was humid, overcast, and a nice breeze to cool things off. It was high tide.

I found a few largies holding along the bank and cast out my fly. I had one chase and take a nibble at the rubber legs. A few more casts and I hooked this gem just past the rod length. As it is my new policy to not fight fish on the reel (long story, but I keep loosing the big fish that way) I stripped in the fish, took out the iPhone and snapped a picture of me and the baby lady and the fish. I think she is starting to enjoy fishing more than watching construction trucks.

She was getting antsy and I made the call to leave around 11:30. One big snakehead gingerly glided past us. It had no interest in my bass worm or slider. We went home for nap time.

I've also attached a picture of Trent Jones holding a gar I caught yesterday on the Occoquan. It took a widows web Closuer minnow. The hook never touched the mouth. The teeth got caught up in the widows web. Didn't know the fish had such sharp scales. My palm is all cut up from holding the fish. Rather slimy and stinky too.

Rob --

I love the look on your daughter's face in the second picture.  It seems the plan to raise an angler is progressing well.

Cheers,

Rob,

The picture with you, your daughter, and the bass is awesome! Frame that one. Congratulations again on the Gar, that was pretty awesome as well.
