I think that I want to target some Snakehead again.  Actually, I would really like to try to eat one.

Once in a while I will keep a fish to eat (I ate one striper last year).  I put him on a stringer and towed him behind my inflatable kayak.

With a snakehead you can't keep them alive and having a live one on a stringer that could possible bite my inflatable kayak isn't an option.  I don't have too much storage in the back of my yak for a cooler because I store other stuff back there, such as my dry bag with the pump and other supplies.  Add to this the problem with killing the snakehead in the kayak with a knife.

As you can see, I am looking for some ideas on how to deal with the fish.  I really hate cutting its gills and throwing it in the water.  I also don't want to get blood in my yak or puncture it.

Anyone have any ideas?

The NSH can still breathe after cutting the gills....

Bonk it over the head with a small baseball bat (the kind they give away at the ball park). Then, wrap it tight in a plastic bag. You should put in on ice to preserve the meat....

7 hits with an aluminum fish club from bass pro to kill them. Ernie, holt has video of this. Their skulls are dense.

How about a live bag? Or put the snakehead in one of those mesh
laundry bags and tow that behind. That way you keep it alive until
you're ready to dress it out.
