After an initial flurry of chatter last week, it's gone a bit quiet...  Anyone getting out this week?  I'm thinking of going out to fletchers sunday morning, mostly to work on my girlfriend's cast, but shad would be a pretty nice bonus.

I was out at Fletcher's this morning from 10:15 till around 1:00. Tide was outgoing and I casted over and over but, alas, no shad. I suspect we're still a week or two away.  Had to be content with watching the osprey, heron, geese, wood duck, and mallards. Not to mention I ran in to our good buddy John Bilotta and had a nice chat catching up.  They're COMING.....you can feel it!!! :)

They are in fact there just not in force yet. I have gotten skunked 3 times from shore so today I decided to throw on my dry suit and drop the kayak in. Absolutely nothing happening for the first three hours then around 3:30 I found a group of em. got anchored up and managed to get 11 nice hickorys. unfortunately I have not gotten around to retrofitting my kayak for holding a flyrod so i stuck with my spinning rod today (also cover ground faster when I'm not sure where they are). I am definitely gonna get out early Saturday with my 7 wt to get one of the first boats.

hope to see some of you guys there- Sam

Hooked this roe laden female yesterday. My first shad of the season. So pumped. Hickory or American?

I say Hick.  Based on color and eyeball size.
