Walked chain bridge past the trail down to the platform on Sunday. Didn't spot any. Loads in there usually this time of year. 4mr holds them all year.

Anyone spotting carp yet? Cabin fever had me tying up carp flies all winter, I'm ready for some golden bones!

I saw some Koi yesterday in front of a hotel -- but that's probably not what you mean.

I'm dying to get one on a fly, so post 'em if you get 'em.  I love seeing people catch carp on the fly.  I totally understand the skill needed to do it.  That's why I haven't got one yet ;).

Rob:

Any tips on fishing for them in 4MR? It is so murky in there I can't imagine that a #8 nymph, gently twitched, blindly on that muddy bottom would be much good. Are the more up river or near the bridge and further down? I've been in there a quite a few times without much more than little panfish and small LMB.

I was out about 10am on 4MR Saturday. I was standing out in the middle and had three swim by me. Not interested in what I was throwing out there. I was surrounded by goldfish though. Easily 10. Also, the biggest damn catfish I have ever seen trolled by me.

Thanks for the tip, Josh. We went out to lock 7 today and got a few, plus a missed strike from a LMB. The water was super murky, but we were still able to see the dust they were stirring up.

I've been getting into them all winter around lock 7, when the waters not to murky that is. I've only gotten em up to 5 pounds there but still a blast! Figured now that its spring and other fisheries are starting to heat up i'd share my spot

Occasionally i see them crusing near the surface but the dust clouds are usually how i find them too. Ive never had a LMB there, but foul hooked a couple gizzard shad

What have you been fishing with Josh (pattern-wise)? Nice fish!

Thanks, i mostly get them on a scaled down version of the Hybrid fly Joe Montana (the guy who writes the carp on the fly blog) ties, but saun juan worms and size 4-6 wooly buggers work to. Good luck!

We only got hits on green and brown wooly buggers. Conehead and not.
