DC new #1s giant hardcover coming

DC has announced that they will publish a single hardcover volume with
all 52 of the new #1 issues later this year. It will be over 1200
pages.

This interests me if and only if both of the following conditions are met:

1. They intend to put out a volume 2 with all the #2 issues, and then
a volume 3 with all the #3s, etc.

2. My library buys them or makes them available to me via the state
library system.

The thought of being able to jump into the beginning of the new DCU
and be able to read every single book-- for free-- (and ignore the
ones I don't want to read)-- is enough to make me attempt the feat.

So this is something interesting about this email. I noticed that you placed us in BCC. The point of BCC is that we are not supposed to see that you sent an email to a BCC.

Interesting. Google/Gmail bug?

The solicitation specifically uses the term "once-in-a-lifetime," so I don't think there's any plan to do another volume for each issue afterwards. Besides, at 1200 pages it's hardly going to lend itself to comfortable reading of any specific issue.

Well, poof, there went my interest in it, then.

The appeal for me lay in how it could be similar to what CrossGen used
to do. They put out two collected volumes each month, containing all
of their issues from the previous month. I much preferred buying
those TPBs to buying the individual pamphlet issues. It also led me
to read comics/series that I otherwise wouldn't have even sampled,
since I had them right there in front of me.

Oh well.

About the BCC thing-- I don't see that, either in the digest email I
receive or in the GoogleGroups page where I sometimes go to reply.
That is pretty interesting. What did it look like?

Well, I guess it did work if you had other BCC entries and we, theuniquegeeks Google Group, did not see them and only saw our email address.
