Okay. So The Amazing Spider-Man has been out for over a week now and I haven't heard anyone say anything here about it.
Is it good? Is it worth a theater viewing? Or is it a DVD rental?

Good, but not epic. Better than Thor, but not Iron Man or the Avengers. Well worth seeing in the theater. Emma Thompson>Kirsten Dunst. Also having a proper wisecracking Spider Man is awesome.

I've heard wildly different views on it. Kurt Busiek was tweeting the first night that it was almost as good as Avengers. Others have called it the aMEHzing Spider-Man.

Btw: for me: Avengers > Iron Man > Thor > Iron Man 2 > Captain America

I like Chris Evans as Stever Rogers about as much as I like Christian Bale as Batman. Which is to say, not.

I believe you mean Emma Stone, there, Cary. Though I suppose Emma Thompson is getting old enough to play Aunt May.

My take on it...

Avengers > Iron Man > (Amazing Spider-Man = Captain America) > Thor > (Iron Man 2 = Incredible Hulk) ... > Barney the Dinosaur > Ghost Rider.

I believe Serv and Jen felt a little differently, but I loved it.

It was good, and i saw it in 3D and there were some very nice visuals with the 3D (Wall Crawling, web slinging and city scapes of all things...) but i can't call it great. I am happy i saw it in the theatre, and even happy that i sprung for 3D. I wouldn't pay to see it in the theatre again though.

My biggest dislike: The mumbling, stuttering portrayal of Peter Parker. Peter Parker is shy, and quiet, but he doesn't incessantly stutter or mumble. Spider-Man talking his way through a fight on the other hand was fantastic!
