So I was giving blood today.  I try to give blood every 8 weeks, but it's more like a few times a year. The phlebotomist noticed I was carrying a graphic novel, so we chatted about comics.  We had a great chat about the merits of Marvel and DC.  Just before he stuck me with the needle, I asked him about comic conventions such as DragonCon.  He said he'd only ever been to one convention.  Just about the same time he stuck me with the needle, he said .... (wait for it) .... DREAMCON!

I was trapped with a needle in my arm (which stung a little too)!  Suddenly my mind was racing.. perhaps this was some elaborate scheme by a disgruntled DreamCon attendee to get revenge for some perceived misdeed.  Maybe this guy studied phlebotomy for the distinct purpose of trapping a DreamCon senior staffer and taking out his revenge!  How was I going to escape with this giant needle sticking out of my arm!!!?!?!

Then he said how much he enjoyed DreamCon.  And we were cool.  But it was a pretty scary couple pico-seconds.

Just thought some of you would appreciate this.  :)

Flashing back to 2004 is not a weird experience for me.

I had been living in Clemson by myself, working at the university library.  I moved to Aiken to live with the girl who would become my wife, but I was pretty miserable because I was working a lousy, soul-murdering job in a wheel factory.  To the point that it drove me to go back to school in 2005 for my Master's Degree.  This choice changed my life and put me on a much different trajectory.  So while 2004 did lead some good things it was a pretty depressing year.

Not sure what this DreamCon you speak of is though...

I'm sorry, I mean it is a weird experience.

Well i do know what DreamCon is/was. While there will be some here who howl in pain at the mere mention of DreamCon, i remember it very fondly. When DreamCon 2 happens i am in. Just sayin.
