its the same if the iPhone you're buying in USA is the unlocked version. also ensure the version you're buying is met to be used in a LTE band-3 network.

Sri Lanka mobile networks use the following bands
GSM (2G) - 900 and 1800 MHz band
3G (UMTS) - 2100 MHz Band - UMTS Band 1
LTE (4G) - 1800 MHz Band - Band 3
To use above services in SL the phone should support these bands. The specifications of phone would indicate that.
USA does not use the above frequency bands. Most new phones support multiple bands of different countries, it is better to check the specs.
Entering the exact phone model no in following webpage would help to see if it will work in SL

as long as it's factory unlocked (SIM-FREE) international version, you won't have any issues.
but as far as i can see, it's cheaper here.

because i believe, buying a phone from USA live longer than other phones..quality little bit better, my nexus 4 bought from USA 5 years now, no any faults.
yet :)..it must be silly, but i can save up to 30,000/= as well.

false sense, all iPhones are made in china by Foxconn, even if you order an iPhone with in USA, it get shipped direcly from China :)
