Hiring Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000 annually
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The University of South Florida Water Institute is a research center affiliated with the School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida. The Water Institute leverages the talents of students and faculty from throughout the University to address complex water-related issues. The Water Institute facilitates innovative multidisciplinary research, education and public outreach efforts that assist public and private sector agencies and organizations within the State of Florida, the nation and the world. The Water Institute develops inclusive cross-disciplinary partnerships with researchers, educators and external stakeholders that lead to a broader understanding of water issues and a resolution of water problems. Faculty and staff of the Water Institute also as a team to develop several online data-driven web applications that provide comprehensive data resource that helps citizens and scientists alike make informed decisions concerning environmental resources (see Water Institute Websites at https://waterinstitute.usf.edu/).
POSITION SUMMARY: This Senior GIS Analyst position manages all activities related to the design, development, implementation, and support for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects at the Water Institute, including ArcGIS Server infrastructure, ArcGIS Web Applications, ESRI StoryMaps and ESRI Operations Dashboard. Coordinates and oversees GIS related task efforts of students and staff. Communicates with project sponsors (i.e., clients) to determine task requirements, develop task methods, and provide task outcomes and deliverables. Develops GIS task budgets and scope of work documents for inclusion in project proposals. Manages and tracks GIS task progress, budgets and outcomes. Researches GIS methods and technologies, and advises Water Institute staff and faculty, and occasionally faculty from other Departments. Considers long-term GIS application development needs (e.g., the future of mobile and online mapping) and develops project plans accordingly.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and two years of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and three years of IT related work experience, OR a Master's degree and one year of IT related work experience, OR a combination of six years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training.
