Do you think that simply trying to apply that label to someone makes
it so?

Do you think that just because someone posts something you do not like
makes that person a troll?

It is an idiotic response. It is a flight from reality. It is an
obviously desperate attempt to remake reality in the form you wish it
to be, rather than what it is.

The fact is that the original poster is, indeed, rather a troll. The
Birther movement is completely separate from the Creationist movement
even though the sets of proponents might have major overlap.

The Bill Maher column cited has absolutely no mention whatsoever of
Creationists.

There is a precedent. My great-great-grandfather (first generation
from England) was big in small town politics. A political counterpart
waited at the poll on Election Day and challenged my gggrandfather for
his citizenship papers when he arrived to vote. He had to return home
to retrieve the credentials before he was allowed to vote.

The next election, my gggrandfather got there first to challenge his
rival's right to vote and made him go hunt down his birth certificate.

Actually, if you watch the video, Bill Maher does indeed mention
creationists during his bit about republican politicians having to
present birth certificates. The rant is about how american conservatives
pander to the fringe and therefore argue whether or not evolution is
even true, while the UK conservatives don't.

You don't have to go back that far. Goldwater, whatever else his
faults, denounced the influence of religion on politics, Buckley died
heartbroken about his party, and his nation. When they teach kids
today about early U.S. history, they have to be very careful to
differentiate between THAT No-Nothing Party and THIS one.

They don't. They only have certificates of live birth, which are a
very different thing. The jeans of blue I am wearing are not blue
genes, and leg of lamb is not lamb's leg.

Sigh.

It wouldn't bother me so much if they demanded the same of their own
political candidates. You know, *real evidence - not this printed and
signed piece of paper with a baby' footprint, newspaper notices, and
hospital records. Vetted by the FBI? Feh - they're bunch of liberals

even a known bad guy, somehow does not strike me as proper.

If you want go after Kalkidas, be my guest. But please use good
arguments based on fact. In this case, you agree that Kalkidas'
original response is, indeed, correct. So why attack him for this
particular statement? I was particularly concerned with the person
who wrote "It is an idiotic response. It is a flight from reality. It

is an obviously desperate attempt to remake reality in the form you

wish it to be, rather than what it is." You and I and others agree
that the single word "troll" (what kalkidas actually wrote) was quite
correct and therefore should be left alone. Attack him on what is
worthy of attack, if you want to make your ammunition count.

Certainly not reason or civility from the religious. It's amusing. I had

rightarded extremism and unthinking which adversely impacts the health,

racketeering, extortion, burgalry, mail fraud, rape of little

Chanting a god's name 24 hours a day did not stop nearly a dozen

But enough about you. Let's talk about your criminal cult.

You asserted that all of science cannot be trusted to find "truth"
because a few scientists in the past 100 years or so faked their
data. Your moral objection to the behavior of these tiny few
scientists is enough for you to reject science and the scientific
method.

Yet when the Krishna Consciousness mob's leader (Prabhupada) died

What the leaders of your cult did were vastly more evil than what
the scientists did, yet you castigate the scientists but you do
not castigate your cult's criminal leaders.

Do you know what the word "hypocrite" means? Here, let me help
you: "The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues
that one does not hold or possess; falseness."

If your moral objection to the behavior of a few scientists is
valid for rejecting science, then your moral objection should also
apply to your cult. Yet somehow, amazingly, it does not. Why is
that?

I really don't appreciate public posts like this, if you need to make
comments like this, please do so privately.

I'm not singling you out, others do it, and it is not how I would prefer
to do this sort of thing, it looks.... populist.

He refuses to castigate evil acts, or to even acknowledge them,
because the evil acts were p[erformed by leaders of his demonic
cult. But what's your excuse?

If it had been my religion (neo-paganism), I would not have
hesitated to denounce the evil-doers and demand their punishment.
That makes me morally and ethically superior to you and
"Kalkidas." Doesn't that bother you?

Depends on your definition of "moral," really. Most cults indoctrinate
their members with the notion that unquestioning obedience to their
leaders is the highest morality. To Kalkidas, criticizing the ISKCON
bosses is a far more grievous sin than violating the principles of satya
and daya.

Only non-trolls care about being labeled a troll. The trolls love it.
It's like calling a pimp a pimp - "No SHIT I'm a pimp. I am THE Pimp."

Judging from your behaviour in this life, Kalk, it looks to me like
you''re striving to have your next life as a moron. I have no comment
on whether that would be redundant or not.

As a mailing list manager myself, I push the same policy. One
gets far better cooperation via private conversation than one
does by public embarrassment.

*Every* mailing list manager and forum moderator I know pushes the same
policy. Making a spectacle just complicates the issue.

That's not how Karma works. He would have to be virtuous in this life
to move up to the level of moron in the next life.

That *is* his chanting. He is showing us, by his own example, that his
religion is despicable. We should all be grateful to him for that.

Request for moderation. I have always found DIG to be quite moderate.
