At one time I had my geometric algebra module as part of the sympy
distribution.  I withdrew it due to the documentation requirements.  I
found it a burden to document the module using Sphinx (look at attached
documentation to understand why).  The current version of the module is at -

https://github.com/brombo/galgebra

All the current documentation is in LaTeX.  I am attaching the module
documentation. galgebra.pdf is the documentation for the module and
bookGA.pdf are extensive notes on geometric algebra.

My current situation is that my wife has Multiple System Atrophy and I
am her caregiver and do not have the time to work on the geometric
algebra module anymore.  I wonder if there is anyone in the sympy
community that would care to take over from me.  The most immediate
thing that needs to be done is to make the module compatible with Python
3.0 and to provide documentation in Sphinx.  I would be glad to consult
on the process and offer any help that I can give.

                                                      Sincerely yours,

Alan,

I am sorry to hear about your wife. I wish you both the best dealing with this unfortunate turn in life.

Thank you for your work on the geometric algebra module. I personally think it would provide better longevity if it was add back to SymPy. It is more like to be maintained by the "collective" if it is there. But as we've seen with the quantum physics module, it may or may not be a good idea to have it dangling unmaintained.

The ideal is that we have someone that would do the initial setup and then act as a maintainer. The hardest part is probably finding someone with similar knowledge as you to do that.

We should all be on the lookup for a possible person for this and encourage adoption of the package.

Sincerely,

Jason

Dear Alan,

We (Pythonic Geometric Algebra Enthusiasts https://github.com/pygae ) are currently maintaining the community fork of  GAlgebra at https://github.com/pygae/galgebra which supports Python 3, increases test coverage, sets up CI and linters, maintains releases to PyPI, improves docs and has many bug fixes, please see Changelog( https://galgebra.readthedocs.io/en/latest/changelog.html ) for details. This maintenance effort solves part of the problem, especially the two tasks you mentioned (make the module compatible with Python 3.0 and to provide documentation in Sphinx) are done. GAlgebra is such a great library and we wish to keep it alive for people who wish to use it.

We were not aware of this post and are sorry to hear about your wife and sincerely wish you both the best dealing with this unfortunate turn in life.

P.S. This is brought up in https://github.com/conda-forge/staged-recipes/pull/9655 when we are trying to add pygae/galgebra to Conda Forge.

Sincerely,

Utensil Song

on behalf of Pythonic Geometric Algebra Enthusiasts
